About the Role:
As a Corporate Tax Manager, you will be responsible for managing corporate tax matters for all legal entities in Egypt in close collaboration with the Tax Operations team, CFO and Finance team to achieve tax outcome in line with global tax strategy and compliant with international standards (OECD/BEPS) and local laws. Point of contact for corporate tax and transfer pricing matters in Egypt.
This role reports directly into the MENA Corporate Tax Head.
About the Role
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage all corporate tax matters in the country.
- Ensure accurate and timely corporate tax and Transfer Pricing (TP) filings/returns. Support Transfer Pricing (TP), Tax Operations and finance teams in the preparation and review of the TP documentation for the legal entities.
- Coordinate tax and Transfer Pricing audits, in close alignment with Transfer Pricing team and/or external consultants; identify and communicate in collaboration with other stakeholders’ potential tax exposures and aligns settlements with concerned parties.
- Ensure compliance with local tax laws and regulations, alignment with global policies and governance, including adequate tax review process and trainings.
- Check with Tax Operations team if local IT systems are updated and able to deliver accurate tax information on time to local tax authorities.
- Proactive alignment between Legal Entity and Divisions/Functions on profitability monitoring at local level to achieve profit result consistent with TP documentation and/or local Tax requirement. Support the preparation of divisional inter-company and/or cross-border agreements, in close collaboration with Country Head of Tax and Finance organizations and Transfer Pricing team; reviews third party agreements from a tax perspective.
- Initiate and/or support Tax Operations organization in the development of tax planning opportunities and/or implementation of global initiatives to ensure consistency with global tax strategy, including management of external advisers.
- Develop and implements plans and timelines for remediation of any tax related issues. Drive process improvements for the Tax, Transfer Pricing and Statutory Reporting activities. Manage tax provision and tax compliance process.
- Identify opportunities for utilizing technology solutions to improve the efficiency and quality of the service delivery and work closely with the global tax and Tax Operations
- Coordinate with company staff (Accounting – Marketing – P&O etc.) through good communications and advice to make sure of good performance in handling tax issues and to stick with applicable tax law.
Essential Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration.
- 10+ years of experience in a similar position in Multinational Companies or the Big 4 Audit Firms.
- Proven track record of Tax Management in Egypt is a must, in Group, Tax Consultancy Firm and Country Tax departments.
- Fluency in English and Arabic Languages.
- Experience in managing tax authorities, external consultants, and multiple stakeholders’ requirements.
- Ability to work in complex environment including experience with shared services centers.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to clearly present financial and tax information.
Desirable Requirements:
- Professional certification: Chartered Accountant (CIMA or CPA) or Chartered Tax Accountant is a plus.
