About the role: The Accounting Manager designs and implements processes related to US tariffs documentation requirements for Finance, ensuring end-to-end service delivery. This role guarantees the quality and effectiveness of these processes, ensuring that systems, documentation, compliance, and reporting are in place.
Beyond the US tariffs process, the Accounting Manager serves as a key resource for statutory accounting and works closely with the NOCC and FRA R2R Swiss teams, Group/Swiss Tax, and business units. This collaboration ensures appropriate statutory accounting treatments and year-end statements. The role additionally will be responsible for overseeing and managing various projects within the organization, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.

Your responsibilities will be but are not limited to:

About the Role

  • Manage the execution of strategies for US tariff project. Has the operational oversight to provide services at expected levels with a clear customer focus, including handling the exceptions
  • Strong Swiss statutory and tax accounting competence acquired in auditing in major auditing company
  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders, providing regular updates on project status and addressing any issues that arise.
  • Serves as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for related policies and processes, supports productivity objectives and continuous improvement, process changes and leading practices to have an efficient and effective process
  • Lead and manage project teams to deliver projects successfully. Develop and implement project plans, including timelines, budgets, and resource allocation.
  • Ensures all processes, policies and procedures are clearly defined, fully documented
  • Ensure compliance with Novartis Accounting Manual (NAM), Novartis Financial Controls Manual (NFCM) and regulatory requirements; ensure all processes and procedures are defined and documented in Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), ensure adherence of processes to this standard, perform controls, follow up on deviations, put remediations plans in place if deemed necessary
  • Promote a strong and control environment, follow up on audit issues and implement correcting measures
  • Support External and Internal Audit

Minimum Requirements:

  • University level degree in Business Administration/ Economics/Finance or Chartered Accountant / MBA desirable
  • 8+ years of financial / accounting experience, with in-depth functional expertise; experience in auditing or consultancy is a plus
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a multi-national organization
  • Experience in managing projects driving performance improvements
  • Lean/ Six Sigma Certified preferred
  • English (written and spoken)
  • German is beneficial (written and spoken)
